Economical development achievement could increased by using geoinformation, how does it function better depend on answering many questions that are basically geographic in nature. For example,
- What is the spatial pattern of beneficiaries businesses and households income within a community?
- Where are the best areas for a proposed central business resort?
- Which community are represented high income within a region?
Geoinformation such Geographic Information Systems (GIS) offer a powerful method to analysis demography, consumer and business data in a geographic perspective to help answer such questions as these. A GIS is a decision support system that runs on computers ad laptop as well. The key feature of a GIS function is that it made relationship the spatial location of an object (e.g. a market, office park, or central business) with data and information that are collaborated with the object (e.g. the number of population, income, and employment status, economical risk ).
Any information that has a geographic location collaboated with it can be stored in a GIS and used to answer questions that have a geographical dimension. For example, what is the spatial pattern of hyperstore within an area? What areas have the highest customer potential for a particular retail sector? Where are the concentrations of high or low income households within a community? How accessible is a particular location to key transportation routes? Where is the optimal location for a new public market information ?
The Internet and GIS are facilitating the sharing of spatial information and business intelligence data between the private sector and economic development agencies.Communitiesare using GIS technology and the Internet to turn their unique resources into economic success, advance the quality of life and strengthen the economic base of their communities by retaining and growing existing businesses and attracting new investment.
